Hello LDC Cohort 2 and welcome to the LDC Wiki! I have uploaded three electronic documents for your understanding of our work together and for your reading enjoyment (See Documents Below):
  1. The Email-able 1.0 Guidebook to LDC--The 1.0 Guidebook will give you a pretty good idea of what LDC is and how teachers have used it in classrooms across the country. Although it is a bit lengthy, the Guidebook is a quick read.
  2. Common Core State Standards for Literacy in ELA, Social Studies/History, Science, and Technical Subjects--We will also be using the CCSS document briefly during the training, so downloading it to your computer or you can install a free App on your phone: Common Core Mastery Connect.
  3. Reading in the Disciplines--This article will give you an excellent insight about the theoretical foundation of the CCSS for literacy--Disciplinary Literacy. A short cut to the reading is to read the introduction and then read about literacy in your specific discipline...although the entire document is a rather interesting read from beginning to end.

Again, these three documents will help set the stage for deeper learning about the Literacy Design Collaborative and the foundation for the CCSS in all disciplines. Feel free to dabble in all of the documents, dig deeply into one area of one of the documents, or read all of them from front cover to back. Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Also, if you are further inclined, on this Wiki home page you can check out a vast amount of helpful LDC resources from all over the country, some of which we will be incorporating into the training. Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions and I am looking forward to seeing everybody at the training!
